Maintaining adequate funding levels to: Continue to provide quality public services, to repair county roads and bridges, to complete the county capital improvement plan and to keep the promises and agreements made with current and retired county employees. .
My biggest budgetary concern for the county is the proposed privatization of Medicaid-funded mental health and substance use disorder services. Privatization will not only drastically reduce services, it will negatively impact the county budget.
Efforts must continue to identify critical issues at inmate intake. I support jail diversion programs which have proven to be effective and should continue as an alternative to incarceration for non-violent offenders and offenders with mental health matters, substance use disorders and who are Veterans. In addition to jail diversion, I support investing in educating our youth and increasing programming to reduce the incarceration recidivism rates.
The Macomb County Charter mandates a system of checks and balances. Since the implementation of the executive form of government, there have been certain conflicts and struggles while each branch of government settles in their respective role. A mutual respect of the other's position and implementation of the other's policies and ordinances is imperative for a more cooperative relationship.
This issue recently came before the Board of Commissioners. I opposed and voted against raising the salaries for elected officials, including the salaries of County Commissioners.
I would like to enhance and improve community based mental health services. A mentally and emotionally healthy population will contribute to healthy and secure communities.
Over the last several years there have been significant cuts to valuable county programs. We must monitor the effectiveness of our remaining programs and services and make cuts when the program/service is no longer cost effective or when the program is unable to maintain the mission statement and goals.
We owe it to our seniors, children, veterans and the mentally ill to improve services. In the years following the recession many valuable county programs were reduced and/or eliminated. I would like work lo restore programs such as chore-services to seniors, low cost flu clinics, improving the meals-on-wheels program and the mental health crisis line.

Yes. Regional transit in Metro-Detroit will boost economic development, will enhance mobility options, will ensure accessibility and attract a youthful workforce.
I support outfitting the county sheriff's department with body cameras.
Yes.
The County should continue to promote the broad range of degree and technical programs currently in Macomb County. In addition, the county should seek additional opportunities for higher education in the county.
There should be continued collaboration with county departments and other agencies to support the importance of education. The Board of Commissioners currently supports education through the Green Schools Program (one of the most active and successful in Michigan), a book collection drive and most recently through a mural project where local high school students created a permanent display at the Heath Department.
Gun violence is clearly on the rise. While I have great confidence in the county departments of law enforcement, we must step up our efforts to protect and educate our residents.

I believe that Michigan and Macomb County in particular, should promote a culture of welcoming immigrants into the community.
Continue to support funding to programs such as Meals on Wheels, Head Start, Services for Seniors and low cost immunizations.
I support various forms of employee training programs. Additionally, I support employee assistance programs which have proven successful in assisting employees in addressing personal challenges. Lastly, an improved workforce requires diversification.
I have supported the issuance of bonds to repairing and/or maintaining the infrastructure.
