Education BA in Economics and Management from Albion College
Family Husband - Mike Compagnoni
Professional Experience I have over 7 years of business development and marketing experience both the healthcare and technology industries. I spent the first years of my career at Stryker Corporation and then moved into tech by working for TechSmith Corporation, first as a Product Marketing Manager and then leading the Product Marketing and Strategic Marketing team before moving to LLamasoft a year ago. I graduated from Albion College in 2009 with an economics and management degree.
Political Experience My husband has been part of the Michigan Republican scene for over ten years and during this time I've worked beside him learning through him about our great states political system.
Simply put, I want to make Delhi Township the best place to live, work, and raise a family. There is a great deal of economic development opportunity to bring more businesses and restaurant into the area to really make downtown Holt a hub of local activity. We also need to do a better job of spending our tax dollars. I don’t just want to talk about how things can be better, I want to make a difference in our community.
As with all budgets you need to take a holistic view of revenue and expenditures. You need to understand where all of your money is going and take a look at the past in order to plan for the future. We will be forced to evaluate all revenue sources and work towards improving fund balances. From working in technology, I understand the benefits and cost savings better technology can have on overall budgets. Everything possible should be done to examine ways to drive efficiencies in providing government services. Most importantly, we will deal with budget shortfalls inside of existing revenues if at all possible as there is rarely room in the average taxpayer's budget for additional mills.
Generally yes, the Township provides a high level of service at a reasonable cost. As we move into the future we always must consider cost reductions, regional agreements, and consolidation for adequately managing the Township. Service sharing and regional cooperation will help us save money while still providing high quality services to our residents.
The biggest change I would like to see regarding government structure in Delhi Township is working more closely with surrounding communities to share costs and services. This will save taxpayer dollars and net better operations and services for the Township.
Economic Development – Incentivize businesses to flourish in our community in order to drive more tax revenue and investment in our community from locals and surrounding regions. Improved Fiscal Management – Taking a deeper dive into our budgets and making smarter decisions for our community based on the overall goals of our community. Technology Improvement – Through enhancements to our technology infrastructure we could significantly reduce operating costs for years to come.
At a certain level yes, this can be most seen with roads as County Road Commissions do manage Township roads. With that being said any agreements for services must be studied in detail to make sure that any services we are outsourcing are being provided as efficiently and effectively as they always have been.
Police, fire, and Infrastructure are the core of any community. We are lucky in Delhi Township to have excellent fire and police services. Infrastructure and adequate funding of the maintenance and construction of infrastructure will continue to be a focus of state and local officials, myself included.
As a Township Trustee, I would commit to carefully examining every contract the Township has entered into annually. By providing an annual review of expenses, we can always see where the best deals and fairest prices for services are. This will save taxpayer dollars, provide oversight, and prevent waste/abuse from outside vendors.
