Project manager for GM plant construction and modernization including Lansing, Detroit, Kansas City and many others.
Sterling Heights City Councilman.
Republican worker for Dwight D Eisenhower and all others since Ike.
The end of automatic eternal incumbency. The same family and their hand-picked successor have ruled our county forever. The elected process needs to be open to the voter. Elected office is temporary, not an lifetime entitlement.
Contain cost within the money available. Counties, cities and states do not create money like Washington. Everything Macomb County "gives" is TAKEN from its people.
My department will aggressively pursue the actual criminals and not prey on harmless citizens to raise revenue.
The sheriff's department needs ELECTED civilian management so that those who have issues can be confident that they will receive FAIR treatment and not just the usual circling of the wagons that typifies all insider-run law enforcement.
When labor is promoted into a management position they are still just labor in a managment position. A new publicly-elected professional manager will be able to see waste and obsolete spending issues that are invisible to insiders.
I don't particularly favor things that further run up the cost of government. Just because a device is offered does not make it mandatory.
On that subject, governments typically buy EVERY labor-saving device that is invented, but NEVER reduce labor. When GM bought new machines, they terminated the jobs the machines perform.
The county-operated cameras at every intersection photograph and file nearly everything that happens in Macomb County already.
I do not know the extent of the stated offense. If sex traffic is known to exist I expect that the current sheriff is making arrests.
ALL criminals within my jurisdiction will be arrested whenever caught. The extent of punishment is up to the prosecutor, the jury and the judge.
I will certainly do everything in my power to have ILLEGAL ALIENS who commit crimes in our county sent back where they belong.
NO. I oppose ALL narcotics. So-called "medical marijuana" is clearly a hoax aimed at legalizing this very harmful drug. The world is full of legal off-the-shelf and prescription pain relievers. Anybody who wants to get high can easily buy a "pain certificate" from one of the numerous "doctor feel-goods" who advertize in throwaway ad papers.
The de facto legalization of marijuana is the primary reason that drug pushers have shifted to even more damaging drugs including heroin,.
Medical marijuana needs to be banned, along with all other narcotics.
If narcotics are used to a limited extent, they need to be dispensed in small doses though established pharmacies with a specific doctor's prescription for each case.
I will be happy to appear with Mr. Donald Trump whenever he visits Macomb County.
I have already attended one of his events in Warren.

Over 30 years of experience with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office starting as a Correctional Officer and working my way up to Sheriff. Overseeing 517 budgeted employees and managing a 64 million dollar budget.
Served as Sheriff for the past 5.5 years.
The top three priorities would be the Macomb County jails failing infrastructure and high daily population. The high addiction rate in today's society and an increasing population with mental health issues. Third, the recruitment of qualified and motivated individuals seeking a career in corrections/law enforcement.
Jail operations is 76% of our total budget and our main function at the sheriff's office. We are looking at all options to improve the intake process, housing capacity and alternatives to incarceration. The goal should be to make sure that those that truly pose a threat to our community are kept incarcerated while those that suffer from mental health issues or addiction receive the appropriate treatment.
I received funding in my 2016 budget to purchase body cameras for road patrol deputies. We are currently down to 2 vendors and deputies should be outfitted by the end of the year. I feel body cameras will help capture factual events that will aid in prosecuting cases and investigating internal complaints.
Education in the community and with law enforcement officers to help identify individuals that are victims of sex trafficking. Once identifying victims, we need to treat them like victims and not criminals. Investigations should be focused on those that are forcing these individuals to work as sex slaves. Our Sheriff's Enforcement Team (SET) investigates these complaints and is a high priority in our organization. Perpetrators should receive maximum penalties to deter others.
Making sure that those receiving medical marijuana cards have a true medical condition that marijuana will help treat.
