For success to occur, the local citizens, students, staff, administrators and boards of the district must be involved. Without a sense of ownership, a plan imposed from the outside can not succeed. These groups must be an active part of the planning, strategizing, prioritizing and implementation process. As these individuals will live with the consequences of any plans they will benefit from participating in their development. As well, the state should work to relieve debt that can not possibly be sustained without further damage and deterioration to these systems. Interventions must occur to work with districts before situations and budget deficits become dire.
It is clear that Michigan has a disparity among it's communities that keeps all of the state being a stellar example of "Pure Michigan." In order to attract tourists, business and keep citizens satisfied we need to maintain a standard of basic quality throughout the state. We need good roads, good schools, safe neighborhoods and clean water for all of Michigan. A basic commitment to this at the level of state government is essential for all of our districts to thrive and contribute to the overall strength that is Michigan. There are various "gateways" to our state that should be supported by the bigger, commercial centers.
Local control is a cherished concept everywhere. However, there are times when local municipalities need outside assistance. If no funds are included, the overall situation cannot improve. The state municipal plan must be balanced in it's division of resources based on need as well as population, tax revenue and other resources.

The actions of Governor Snyder and his team that created, sustained and then inadequately addressed the Flint water crisis are deplorable. Flint is not a third world country and we must have the faith and trust of all of our citizens for their health, safety and well-being. Accountability and transparency in governmental services are essential. First of all, prevention would be appropriate and a major event such as a change in water supply should have been tested, approved by independent scientific and health consultants. Once the problems became evident an emergency management of the water delivery should have been instituted. Outside resources should have been deployed.

The reality is that sales taxes I need it for the sustainability of our economy. As Michigan continues to include the service sector, it is a step in the right direction for our state tax base expansion. Levying sales tax on services, will make our state tax system stable and economically balanced.
Yes
I simply believe that it is important for students to attend schools in the communities in which they reside in order to continue to focus on developing a local economy. Therefore local governments, leaders, and businesses, need to be equipped with the tools that may allow such.

Yes. It is an unjustified and an unhealthy economical disposition regarding increased incarceration and taxpayers paying for their residencies in prison cells.
Yes. As often as the coordination of her campaign trail and my campaign trail will allow.
Yes. Michigan has faced increased renewable energy production from 7.8% in 2013 to 10% in 2015. The price of renewable energy contracts have continued in a downward price. Helping Michigan's high rates of Avila mom cancer and cardiovascular disease, the renewable energy mandates for Michigan energy producers are headed in the right direction.
Michigan's present numbers have declined from somewhere in the 50,000 to somewhere in the 40,000 today. So while headed in the right direction there still need to be a closer look at the type of sentencing impose on those who commit nonviolent crimes.
