The State should move retirement from a defined benefit program to strictly a defined contribution program; beyond that the state should only intervene at the request of struggling cities/school districts.
I believe the best way to fund our cities and county governments is to move away from income tax, and go to a sales tax, in which 50% or more of revenue goes to the county that the money is collected in.
The state should only intervene at the request of struggling cities/school districts, and at the cost to the city/school district.

overall the tax system is, however, i believe that we can generate more revenue by getting rid of the income tax and increasing our sales tax with money spent at specific parts of the budget.
Only if the people of Detroit would agree to such a commission.
I believe that private and charter schools do a better job at educating the children, and would work to make it easier for them to operate.
I believe that private individuals and business have the right to discriminate based on any reason including race, creed, and sexual orientation. However I do not believe that the state should NOT discriminate for any reason including sexual orientation or gender identity.

I have not signed any pledges but would be willing to sign a pledged not to increase taxes, and to work towards banning abortions except for those that endanger the mother, or in cases of rape or incest.

We do incarcerate too many people in Michigan, and the best way to change this would be to decriminalize "victimless" crimes as in crimes that only affect the people who are involved in the crime such as using marijuana
