Concentrate on the basics of government. Just invest in the infrastructure that is needed for all in the communities and forget the frills. For current employees concerns have been pressure on pensions in recent years due to underfunding due to low rates of return on investment vehicles. These type of pensions are rare in the private sector but we should balance the promise to government employees with taxpayer family budgets. Switch for future employees and try to switch for current employees to a defined contribution retirement plan. If there are any logical consolidation of districts or services this also should be done. Privatization is always a top consideration of services.
First, I feel too much is taken by Lansing, only to be given back after their cut is taken. When funds are given back there are strings attached that can bind the hands of local government to add costs or force misdirected spending. Second, stop all the tricks that siphon off moneys 'here and there' with things like Downtown Development Authorities and the like. Put all the local funds in the actual city/school budgets. In all cases allow for flexibility.
After every steps are made to meet the obligation(s) and there are long term deficiencies that can't be met I say go to bankruptcy and start fresh. If the burden of government gets so bad that the community loses population and businesses(employer) due to high taxes, what good is that?

This was a royal mess. The State and Federal government have watchdogs they say we need at great taxpayer expense and they failed. It is much easier to sue a private enterprise and get restitution. This is one of the reason Libertarians say utilities like this should be run by a private business/corporation. Just the threat of a large lawsuit settlement keeps most honest. There are also private watchdogs that are not trying to protect their cushy government jobs by not rocking the boat. When we have government agencies that are suppose to do this we tend to become complacent and not to go to them. Thus nobody was watching the government until things got way out of control. Bless the victims

No. I think we need to be competitive with other States. Some states do not have an income tax and some states do not have a sales tax. Statistics show that people and employers move from high tax states to low tax states. Get a handle on the budget: Concentrate on the basics of government. No deficit spending. No frills. No special interest welfare that may only benefit a few corporations. Another concern there has been much pressure on budgets at the state and local governments in recent years due to underfunded pensions due to low rates of return on investment vehicles. Also, apply where applicable user type fees for services that are not used by all taxpayers.
Just traditional public schools.
Allow flexibility for competition. In the real world competition drive us to decide the best products and services for our dollar.

The country was formed on freedom of religion not freedom from religion.
No. i have not signed a pledge either way. I would not support taxpayer funding for abortion.
SIMPLE! This is the computer age. Just tell a computer how many rectangles we need to divide up the population. No bias from any party, ethnic group, or other special interest. Done.
Yes. The war on drugs has had too many innocent victims. It has brought on bad incentives like 'Civil Asset Forfeiture' which gives financial incentive for policing agents to take(steal) from citizens, even innocent, instead of going after violent criminals. These innocents then have to hire a lawyer to get their money and/or property returned. If someone wants to poison themselves, that should be their choice.
If the opportunity arrises. There are no plans as of now.
I do not think it should be forced. I do think it should be encouraged for all businesses and individuals.
Yes. Let out any none violent people who have been convicted of 'victimless crimes'. Export any illegal aliens to their home countries.
